After looking through some of the other options on the primary source list, I decided to take a look at Dollhouse. The series is based off an underground company. They have the technology to be able to wipe someone's memory as well as install new ones like a computer. The company has people that serve as empty shells who engage into whatever mission's they are assigned to. By being able to become anyone the company makes them into, these people can finish jobs that the clients ask for no matter what the situation. By being able to do this, the company suggests that they make people happy, but do they really? How can you be happy if you don't know who you are?
Everyone has their own identity. You grow up with memories of your childhood, of different experiences both good and bad. You remember the people you've met, and you live to tell the stories of all the things you've done. Throughout your life you discover who you are by the situations you are put in as well as the people you meet who come to shape your life into the reality you make for yourself. In Dollhouse, the workers essentially lose their identities by becoming dolls. Dolls that remember no past and take on the identity of one or more person's past. By becoming no one, they are able to take on the task of being multiple "someones". So many people wish to be someone else, to live the life of someone whose lifestyle seems so much more glamorous than our own. Would it be worth it though? To live so many other lives that aren't yours? To lose yourself in order to gain?
Hey Grace in reality I dont think they are making them happy because these dolls are living a fantasy right now. They cant be happy becuase they dont get to remember what they just done becuase they memory be wiped clean. I dont think its worth it at all I would rather live my own life and appreciate what I have. God made me this way and to become someone Im not is not worth it.
