Today I got up around 10 since I didn't have class until 11:30 and went to turn on my computer and brush my teeth as usual. I was logged onto facebook while I was brushing my teeth and I heard the familiar popping sound from fb chat, which I thought was weird because usually people aren't using fb chat during the mornings. Anyway, I went over to to see who had messaged me and it was a friend of mine asking if I knew how bad the bomb threat was. I was shocked and replied "WHAT? WHAT BOMB THREAT?!" Anyway, when I read that McPherson had been evacuated I was worried because my first class was in McPherson, and I had received an email saying that class was going to still be in session unless otherwise noted. I contemplated on whether or not I would go to class and decided I shouldn't just to be safe, but I received an email about 20 minutes before class saying that it was cancelled. This is kind of exciting because I've never had a class officially canceled before, so yay for cancelled class! But not so yay for the fact that there was a bomb threat. I was a little surprised at how some people wished that the threat was a little more serious so that more of their classes would be cancelled...I don't think I'd ever want to wish ill-will or potential danger or death on someone in order for me to gain something. Though I'm sure thats not what they mean by saying this, it definitely needs to be considered before someone goes around spouting nonsense like that. Also, a friend of mine who happens to be Muslim got some weird looks from people today, and I thought that was really racist of them. Honestly, this friend is probably one of the most caring and harmless people I've met, and for people to give him looks and avoid him today is really frustrating to me.
The Bomb threat was kind of shocking to me at first too. It was scary to think about but I was hoping they would cancel all classes but they didn't.
ReplyDeleteMy class was cancelled for today that I had in Smith Lab. It was actually at 9:30PM, but the professor didn't want to teach, I guess. Anyway, it's a cute pikachu.
ReplyDeleteThe bomb threat was pretty scary, I think it was dumb that the buildings right next to the ones that had the threats on them were still open, if a bomb goes off in one building its not going to magically stop as soon as it gets next to another building.
ReplyDeleteYeah it doesn't make that much sense to not cancel classes near the buildings with the bombs, but I think since it was a bomb THREAT they figured they shouldn't waste a lot of money on cancelling classes, especially if no bomb was found.
ReplyDeleteYeah I had no idea until my friend text me about it. It is exciting to get class canceled though!
