So if you haven't heard, theres been a lot of stories talking about the new precautions the TSA is taking at airport security. They've basically developed new scanners that are a huge invasion of privacy, which is our 4th amendment rights to privacy. These scanners are advanced enough to take images of us while we're in the scanner and it pretty much strips you down so that the image is a naked picture of you. They can see your penis size too, and there have been incidents where TSA agents take advantage of this and make fun of some of the people who walk through the scanners. If you don't want to go through a scanner, you have the "wonderful" alternative to get a major pat down, aka a TSA agent will come and feel you up in every crevice of your body. Yes, a TSA agent will feel up your boobs or check between the balls in order to make sure that there is no trace of bombs or whatever else they could happen to be looking for. I think it's ridiculous that the TSA is taking such drastic measures to ensure the safety of airplane passengers. There has even been a story of a little boy being stripped at the airport because they thought he could be carrying bomb threat related things in his...who knows where. As a student that flies to and from school, I'm going to have to deal with the TSA when I fly home...and I'm really not looking forward to it. I'm hoping that the Columbus airport doesn't have the scanners installed yet, but I'm pretty sure that LAX will have them. Just what I wanted. A good feel-up at the airport for an early Christmas present.
Those scanners sound horrible! But I like the picture you put with your post, it goes with the topic of those scanners perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI think that some of the airport measures are over the top, and it really is crazy how easy it is for them to invade your privacy.
ReplyDeleteYeah I went through those last summer. I think Cincinnati has them. There not too bad, you just stand there for a few seconds, and then it's over. I didn't think it was a big problem.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't have a problem with it. I don't because I know that security only evovlves to the dangers around it. I know someone who works airport security, and he says there are CONSTANT attempts to break through which forces them to take security measures. I would much rather a pat down than another major attack against this country.
ReplyDeleteYes, I guess it's good that airports are taking precautions, but sometimes it gets out of hand. I just wish the pat down was more of...well an actual pat down, not a "let me reach into every crevice of your body and make you feel really uncomfortable" kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteBeing a guy, this really isn't that big of a deal to me. It does really suck that they have to take the same precautions for girls...I wouldn't like it if my sister had to go through it or something like that, however, I think it is a better alternative than another terrorist attack.
ReplyDeleteNothing says one night stand like being looked at naked with your clothes on, being felt up by a complete stranger and then just being let go.
ReplyDeleteI honestly feel sorry for the guys that work for the TSA. They are getting told to implement these things by their bosses, but are catching all the flak from passengers. I don't fly much and i also really don't have any shame so it doesn't really bother me.
